About the Role
Gain knowledge and work experience in a large-scale farming operation, with specific responsibilities pertaining to land and conservation management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining grassland, food plots, ponds, and timber areas through prescribed burning, planting, mowing, spraying, and tree shearing.
- Perform dripline irrigation maintenance and care for newly planted trees.
- Utilize safe and effective herbicide application.
- Gain experience prepping seed beds, seeding bluegrass, and maintaining lawns.
- Operate company-owned equipment and perform general repair and maintenance.
- Develop skills in creating and maintaining Excel workbooks to track data and organize projects.
- Interact effectively with the Summit team across all stages and activities of the internship.
- Gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of Summit's broader farming business, including pork, beef, and crop production.
- Deliver a final presentation to Summit's management team.
Requirements
- Proficient using the latest versions of email and web searches.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing and proof-reading skills.
