About the Role
Rent the Runway is seeking a Head of Brand and Performance Marketing to lead brand strategy, integrated marketing, social media, partnerships, communications, and performance marketing. This VP-level role reports to the SVP, Customer and is responsible for ensuring a cohesive brand presence across all touchpoints, balancing long-term brand building with short-term performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Set RTR's brand strategy and long-term positioning, defining messaging architecture, seasonal and multi-year narrative, and brand voice.
- Lead the Brand Marketing function, setting high standards for output, developing leaders, and establishing an operating model for planning, briefing, measuring, and iterating.
- Own the brand and performance marketing budget, making strategic investment decisions and prioritizing programs with the highest impact.
- Lead integrated campaign development from brief through launch, ensuring alignment and connection across channels.
- Lead RTR's Social & Creators function, setting strategic direction for social platforms and the creator economy.
- Manage RTR's Performance Marketing function, owning paid acquisition, retention/CRM, and growth across various channels.
- Lead brand partnerships and editorial programming to expand reach and reinforce brand positioning.
- Guide PR/Communications to build RTR's earned presence and ensure a consistent story across all channels.
- Partner with the Head of Creative and creative team on brand expression and visual identity.
- Own brand and performance measurement, defining and tracking key metrics for brand health and performance outcomes.
- Serve as RTR's brand voice in cross-functional conversations, influencing discussions on product, pricing, AI strategy, and customer experience.
Requirements
- 12+ years of brand and performance marketing experience, including significant time at VP level or equivalent.
- Experience owning brand strategy, integrated campaign development, paid media, and growth marketing.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary marketing functions including social, partnerships, communications, and performance/growth marketing.
- Experience owning performance marketing and paid media at scale, with fluency in CAC, LTV, ROAS, attribution, and media-mix decisions.
- Experience setting brand strategy with measurable, multi-year impact on brand awareness, consideration, and customer trust.
- Proven track record of building and developing leaders and high-performance teams.
- Strong creative instincts and ability to partner effectively with creative teams.
- Skilled cross-functional leader who influences without authority and earns trust across departments.
- Comfortable in board-level and executive conversations, bringing a business perspective.
- Clear and direct communication skills at all levels.
- Experience in fashion, retail, lifestyle, or direct-to-consumer industries.
- Experience in rebuilding brand strategy and leading cultural change.
