About the Role

As a member of Andersen's real estate valuation team, you will gain experience and insight into the commercial appraisal and real estate consulting industry. You will learn about market trends and property-specific factors that drive commercial real estate values, reconcile valuation methodologies, research comparable sales and leasing data, analyze income and expense statements, review lease agreements, and prepare discounted cash flow models for various property types.

Responsibilities

  • Perform market research using third-party databases and assist in verifying transaction data for appraisal reports and real estate consulting engagements.
  • Assist in preparing cash flow models (Excel & Argus Enterprise) using assumptions supported by market research and comparable data.
  • Learn and apply the three common valuation methodologies (Cost, Income, Sales Comparison Approach) to appraise commercial real estate and reconcile value conclusions.
  • Assist in writing appraisal reports and restricted reports compliant with USPAP standards.
  • Receive hands-on real estate valuation training, direct feedback from industry leaders, and attend real estate networking events and conferences.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field with a minimum 3.2 GPA.
  • Eligible students should be in their 3rd year of a 4-year degree program or in their 4th year of a 5-year degree program.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, index match).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable speaking with market participants.
  • Exposure to business writing and strong literary and grammatical competency.
  • Familiarity and/or experience building Discounted Cash Flow Models for different property types is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with Argus Enterprise, Costar Realty, REIS, and RealQuest is a plus.
  • Previous experience preparing appraisal reports and/or performing appraisal reviews is a plus.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire.
  • Will not consider candidates requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
