About the Role

Merrick UK, part of Merrick & Company, is seeking an experienced Architect to join our team. We provide access to specialized expertise for clients in high-performance and aerospace facilities, infrastructure, processing, and life sciences. Our Life Sciences services offer a full-service, integrated approach with a team of diverse professionals, ensuring optimal facility operation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts and translate them into all project phases, aligning with client goals and project requirements.
  • Manage a team of staff and consultants to execute project design and deliverables.
  • Lead design charrettes with the Project Manager to establish project requirements.
  • Assist in researching building codes, materials, and systems to support design decisions.
  • Assist in construction administration, including processing RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
  • Observe and document construction progress and site conditions, preparing field reports and tracking changes.
  • Lead internal design reviews.
  • Ensure design intent and project quality are maintained.

Requirements

  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience.
  • Chartered Architect.
  • RIBA, ARB or equivalent registered Architect with experience working within UK Building Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of current building codes and contemporary methods of heavy commercial, institutional, and industrial construction.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of general architectural practice including planning, programming, schematic design, production of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and construction administration.
  • Knowledgeable in the capabilities of BIM software.
  • Proficient in the use of REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to visually present and clearly communicate results according to project phases.
  • Creative, team-oriented, with a fast grasp of complex topics and the ability to distill key information.
  • Strong customer focus, ability to inspire, and confident stakeholder management, including leadership skills in client interactions.
  • UK citizenship is required by clients for this position.
