About the Role
Performs therapeutic communication and interventions with psychiatric patients. Observes patient condition and communicates with the Charge Nurse regarding behavior. Reports unusual situations or incidents. Works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains a therapeutic rapport with patients, maintaining appropriate boundaries and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Assists in unit management through astute observations.
- Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
- Gives and receives constructive feedback.
- Takes and records vital signs, weights, and other biological needs, notifying the RN of abnormal findings.
- Documents patient response to interventions, progress toward goals, and Patient/Family Education at regular intervals.
- Completes environmental rounds, patient safety observations, hourly rounds, and patient safety plans.
- Participates in Unit CQI and Chart QA.
- Meets performance expectations for Standards of Professional Behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Requirements
- Previous experience in behavioral health preferred.
- Unit Specific Orientation.
- BLS Required.

- Associates Degree in human services or related field
