About the Role
The Technical Account Manager provides day-to-day management and client service support for assigned clients, acting as a liaison between clients, brokers, vendors, and internal resources. This role requires expertise in employee benefits, compliance, and advanced Excel skills to manage and service multiple clients effectively.
Responsibilities
- Act as client’s advocate and main point of contact
- Liaise with internal departments and decision makers
- Keep clients informed of day-to-day changes, billing or enrollment issues, and compliance information
- Ensure accurate and timely servicing of accounts
- Stay abreast of current news, legislation, technologies, and trends in the employee benefits industry
- Drive the renewal process from beginning to end, including reporting, quote request submission, and coordination with internal departments
- Serve as a primary resource for benefits administration support for assigned clients
- Partner with internal teams, carriers, vendors, and brokers to ensure accurate and timely administration of benefit programs
- Manage and process day-to-day benefit administration activities, including employee enrollments, terminations, status changes, dependent updates, and Qualifying Life Event (QLE) requests
- Create, maintain, and analyze spreadsheets, reports, and client-specific deliverables utilizing advanced Excel functions
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting for clients, brokers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Respond to and resolve member and client inquiries
- Document processes, procedures, client requirements, and system configurations
- Monitor service requests and administrative workflows to ensure completion within established service level agreements (SLAs) and client expectations
- Develop expertise in legislation pertaining to government contracting
- Assist in the open enrollment process and all related activities
- Renew and grow book of business
- Comply with company policies and procedures for data privacy and confidentiality, including SOC controls, and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an account management role preferred
- Group 1 insurance license (must have or obtain in the first 90 days of employment)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting
- Ability to analyze complex eligibility, enrollment, and billing issues and recommend solutions
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Experience working with benefits administration systems, HRIS platforms, carrier portals, and data interfaces preferred
- Willingness to travel to client offices
