About the Role

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Project Designer II to join their Community Environments Market team in New York, NY. This role focuses on designing mixed-use developments and contributing to innovative design solutions from concept through construction. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker and effective communicator who can support the production of construction documents and ensure design excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the generation of original design concepts and completion of design deliverables, including preliminary design documentation, conceptual plans and elevations, 3D renderings, and exhibits.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive design documentation.
  • Collaborate with architectural and design staff on projects of various types and scale, considering jurisdictional requirements, client standards, constructability, and programmatic guidelines.
  • Assist with architectural construction document production and consultant design integration.
  • Coordinate project deliverables with external consultants and project partners.
  • Conduct design research from a wide variety of benchmarking sources for ideation.
  • Provide detailed design documentation to architectural project teams.
  • Contribute to QA/QC reviews of design deliverables and architectural construction documents to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Assist with generating project specifications, including research of building products and materials, and coordinate with Interior Designers.
  • Contribute to Construction Administration procedures, including review of design-related RFIs and project submittals.
  • Contribute to the production of design deliverables for RFP/RFQ responses and marketing proposals.
  • Participate in building and supporting a design culture at MG2, adhering to design rigor standards and processes.
  • Produce accurate and timely work in accordance with project schedules and workplans, demonstrating understanding of design intent and project budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm.
  • Demonstrated experience in design production and 3D visualization.
  • Understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
