About the Role
Provide excellent veterinary care to patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners. Represent the mission and values to all clients and partners, fostering cohesion and motivation within the hospital team.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and patients, escort into exam rooms, obtain weight and vital signs, and record information in the electronic medical record.
- Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
- Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications, and maintain the electronic medical record.
- Schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results, maintain inventory and records, and manage accounts receivable.
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and prepare them for discharge.
- Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients, administer medications and therapies, and ensure patient hygiene and comfort.
- Participate in training new staff members and share knowledge.
- Maintain a neat and clean hospital environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed.
Requirements
- College or college-equivalent education as required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state of practice.
- At least 1 year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate, sympathetic, and able to maintain a professional attitude during emotional and stressful situations.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
