About the Role
The Banquet Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional guest service during meetings, conferences, banquets, trade shows, and special events. This position assists with event setup, food and beverage service, room turnover, and event breakdown while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Set up banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and event areas according to event orders, floor plans, and client specifications.
- Arrange tables, chairs, linens, staging, podiums, audiovisual equipment, and other event furnishings.
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a courteous and professional manner.
- Replenish food stations, buffets, beverage stations, and service areas throughout events.
- Clear tables, collect dishes, glassware, and service items promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, service stations, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Assist with room resets and event breakdown activities following event completion.
- Communicate guest requests and service issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the convention center professionally at all times.
- Work collaboratively with event services, culinary, housekeeping, and operations teams to ensure successful event execution.
- Support large-scale conventions, exhibitions, conferences, and special events as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous banquet, hospitality, hotel, restaurant, catering, or convention center experience preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on event schedules.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull carts, tables, and equipment.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to work in large indoor event spaces and service areas.
- Work is performed in banquet halls, meeting rooms, exhibit halls, kitchens, and storage areas.
- Schedule is event-driven and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels and high guest traffic during events.
