About the Role
The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is seeking to fill a position within its public school system, supporting approximately 12,000 students across 38 schools. Responsibilities
- Assist the Principal in maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful learning and working environment for all stakeholders.
- Support the Principal in establishing a school-wide vision focused on high standards and academic success for all students.
- Aid the Principal in providing leadership, cultivating leadership in others, and managing people, data, and processes.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, community, and outside agencies to meet student needs.
- Complete required documents as requested by the Centre and/or the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
- Assist the Principal in identifying staffing needs and selecting staff for the school.
- Help the Principal ensure full and regular attendance of enrolled students.
- Support the Principal with supervising school-based staff, including attendance and performance management, and addressing personnel matters.
- Assist the Principal and support professional growth through development planning and feedback.
- Help the Principal ensure appropriate evaluation techniques are used for students and staff.
- Aid the Principal in monitoring systems for organizational tasks such as student and teacher records, attendance, purchasing, budgets, and timetables.
- Assist the Principal in ensuring the safety and security of the school.
- Help the Principal maintain financial records and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Support the implementation of all school, Regional Education Centre, and Department of Education Early Childhood Development policies and procedures.
- Perform any duty of a principal assigned by senior staff or prescribed by the Education Act and regulations.
Requirements

- A valid Nova Scotia teacher's license is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a public school is required.
- Demonstrated ability to discharge the duties of a principal as set out in Section 38 of the Education Act.

Experience Level
- Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience in a public school
- Previous administrative experience will be given preference
- Demonstrated successful instructional leadership (administrative and/or teaching) in the level(s) to which you are applying is preferred
Education Level
- A Masters of Education Degree in Instructional/Educational Leadership or a Master's level degree with equivalent leadership education is preferred
Salary/Compensations
- $107,166 to $133,958
