About the Role

You will lead the engineering team responsible for Wise's Finance Systems, modernizing ERP and finance tooling, establishing SOX readiness as a newly US-listed company, and shaping AI-native finance operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical strategy for Finance Systems, including architecture and a multi-year roadmap for ERP and surrounding platforms.
  • Lead, hire, and grow a senior engineering team, setting high standards for engineering quality in a regulated domain.
  • Build SOX engineering foundations, including tooling, controls, and change-management practices.
  • Drive operational maturity in deployment frequency, observability, incident response, and change control.
  • Co-own the roadmap with Finance and Product, translating Group Finance priorities into engineering plans.
  • Drive efficiencies through AI-assisted finance operational tooling, evaluating automation opportunities and tooling choices.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years leading engineering teams in finance, fintech, or other regulated/audited domains.
  • Deep experience with Tier 1 ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday Financials, or NetSuite at enterprise scale), including leading at least one migration, consolidation, or major modernization program.
  • Experience building engineering practices that meet SOX or equivalent control-environment standards and withstand external audit.
  • Comfortable with vendor configuration, custom extensions, integration middleware, and event-driven patterns, knowing when to buy, build, or wrap.
  • Stakeholder management skills with CFO-level executives, including transparent partnership, explaining trade-offs, and achieving organizational alignment.
  • A pragmatic approach to transformation, shipping in increments while maintaining focus on the long-term vision.
