About the Role

The ED Registration Clerk is responsible for obtaining required information from patients to complete an accurate registration for patient care, billing, and regulatory requirements, documenting all information within the Epic registration system. This position operates within the clinical area of the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the initial arrival process for patients arriving via EMS or walk-in.
  • Comply with all EMTALA guidelines.
  • Accurately obtain and enter information for over 50 data fields.
  • Utilize predetermined interviewing techniques and scripting when gathering information from patients or their representatives, in person or via phone.
  • Demonstrate positive customer service in all interactions, including face-to-face, phone, and email.
  • Understand, explain, and accurately complete required facility forms before obtaining and witnessing patient signatures.
  • Perform payment collection activities, including handling cash.
  • Meet or exceed productivity and quality goals.
  • Process edits/errors from designated work queues or reports as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior healthcare registration experience is preferred.
  • One year of medical office, hospital, or medical insurance related experience is preferred.

  • $18 - $23 per hour
