About the Role
Central Hudson is seeking Assistant Engineers to join the Electric Engineering team, Gas Engineering team, or the Engineering Rotational Development Program (ERDP). The role involves performing engineering assignments related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electric and natural gas systems, prioritizing safety, innovation, and modernization.
Responsibilities
- Complete engineering work for electric and gas transmission and distribution infrastructure
- Develop long-term plans for electric and gas systems including automation and renewable integration
- Review and investigate facility performance and recommend remedial measures
- Analyze and optimize inspection and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems
- Develop engineering practices, service standards, and equipment capability standards
- Oversee and prioritize capital projects and programs
- Explore planning methods and procedures for electric and gas systems
- Improve distribution design standards and system planning practices
- Provide technical support for gas and electric operations
- Support storm and emergency restoration efforts
- Participate in four rotational assignments over two years for ERDP participants
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to learn new software programs quickly
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation
- Flexibility to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to safety in all tasks and designs
- Valid driver’s license
- Degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering preferred
- Knowledge or experience in the electric and gas utility industry preferred
