About the Role

The Senior Salesforce Developer is a hands-on software developer responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting custom and standard solutions across Dell Medical School’s Salesforce ecosystem. This role translates complex healthcare, fundraising, constituent-engagement, and analytics requirements into secure, scalable applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, integrations, automation, and data solutions across Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud with Marketing Cloud Next, and Health Cloud.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade Apex classes, triggers, batch and queueable jobs, scheduled processes, platform event handlers, and reusable service-layer components.
Build accessible, responsive Lightning Web Components and scalable, performant Apex using secure client-server communication patterns.
Create comprehensive unit and integration tests.
Refactor legacy Visualforce, Aura, Apex, and automation where appropriate; document design decisions and reduce technical debt without disrupting critical operations.
Develop and extend Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud capabilities supporting fundraising activities.
Support Data Cloud ingestion, data streams, mappings, segmentation, and activation, and troubleshoot data quality and harmonization issues.
Support Marketing Cloud Next activation and segmentation responsibilities when appropriate.
Build Health Cloud solutions supporting outreach to patients, providers, and care teams and supporting service coordination while protecting PHI and PII.
Partner with the Senior Salesforce Engineer on scalable solution design.
Develop and support REST and SOAP integrations, Apex callouts, named and external credentials, platform events, Change Data Capture, middleware connections, and secure file-based exchanges.
Design reliable integration behavior, including authentication, idempotency, retries, error queues, monitoring, reconciliation, and operational support procedures.
Write efficient SOQL and SOSL and support high-volume data loads, migrations, transformations, deduplication, and archival while maintaining referential integrity and auditability.
Collaborate with enterprise data, analytics, integration, and security teams on canonical models, Data Cloud pipelines, BI/MDM connections, and interface contracts.
Use Salesforce DX, version control, package or metadata deployment approaches, and CI/CD pipelines for releases.
Participate in estimation, technical design, peer code review, static analysis, automated testing, regression testing, defect triage, and release validation.
Diagnose performance, automation, integration, sharing, and data issues using logs and platform monitoring; perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes.
Maintain technical documentation, release notes, runbooks, dependency maps, and support handoffs.
Contribute to coding standards and reusable development patterns.
Work within an Agile delivery team to refine requirements, define acceptance criteria, demonstrate completed solutions, and communicate technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Provide advanced production support and participate in planned after-hours release windows or critical incident response as needed.
Mentor developers and administrators through pairing, code reviews, documentation, and practical guidance on secure Salesforce development.
Build prototypes or technical spikes to evaluate Salesforce releases, new platform capabilities, AppExchange products, and integration approaches.
Support access reviews, security assessments, audit evidence collection, disaster-recovery exercises, and remediation of code or configuration vulnerabilities.
Assist with production data corrections, deployment coordination, environment refreshes, and post-release validation.
Contribute to project planning, vendor technical reviews, and statements of work when development dependencies or estimates are required.
Create knowledge-transfer materials and provide technical enablement for administrators, analysts, support teams, and super users.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Six years of professional software development experience, including at least four years of hands-on Salesforce development using Apex and Lightning technologies and at least two years delivering complex enterprise Salesforce solutions.
Production implementation experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud, and Health Cloud.
Experience with Salesforce integrations, including APIs, Apex, and SOQL.
Equivalent education and experience may be substituted.

Skills

Advanced Apex development, including triggers, classes, interfaces, asynchronous processing, callouts, platform events, security enforcement, and test automation.
Advanced Lightning Web Components development using modern JavaScript with consideration for accessibility, performance, and user interface design.
Hands-on implementation experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud, and Health Cloud, including core data models, security considerations, and extension patterns.
Strong knowledge of SOQL/SOSL, Salesforce APIs, integration patterns, Salesforce DX, Git, CI/CD, metadata deployment, debugging, and platform limits.
Working knowledge of declarative Salesforce capabilities necessary to integrate custom code with platform configuration.

Anticipate governor limits, data volume, concurrency, security, maintainability, and failure modes before implementation.
Use evidence from logs, testing, monitoring, and user impact to prioritize and resolve defects.
Partner effectively with the Senior Salesforce Engineer, product owners, administrators, data engineers, integration teams, security, compliance, vendors, and operational stakeholders.
Participate constructively in design and code reviews, incorporate feedback, and clearly explain technical choices.
Translate business workflows into implementable stories, technical designs, and acceptance criteria.
Break complex, cross-cloud requirements into modular components with clear boundaries, dependencies, and test strategies.
Analyze multi-system data flows, identity resolution, event-driven processes, API contracts, and high-volume data behavior.
Maintain reliable solutions across multiple environments, release trains, and integration dependencies.
Own code quality and delivery outcomes from design through production support and follow through on defects, documentation, and operational readiness.
Meet security, privacy, accessibility, testing, and change-control requirements and raise risks early.
Provide transparent estimates, status updates, dependencies, and technical risks to delivery partners.
Understand nonprofit fundraising and program operations, healthcare workflows, constituent or patient engagement, and the responsible use of unified customer data.
Balance mission impact, user experience, compliance, delivery speed, licensing cost, and long-term maintainability.
Recognize how data quality, consent, privacy, and system reliability affect operational and clinical-adjacent outcomes.
Produce concise technical designs, diagrams, code comments, release notes, runbooks, and incident findings.
Explain complex development topics, risks, and tradeoffs in language appropriate for engineers, leaders, and business users.
Communicate clearly during releases and incidents and document decisions for auditability and knowledge continuity.
