About the Role
The STEP Academy at Baruch College, a STEM academic enrichment and college preparation program, has several open instructor positions for the fall semester. These courses are non-credit, introductory, and culminating workshop series where participants do not receive an official grade.
Responsibilities
- Plan, teach and prepare materials for 15-18 students
- Evaluate student and group performance
- Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
- Monitor and maintain student attendance records
- Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Availability for each program day from 9am – 10:25am
- Strong background in geometry
- Experience in a teaching capacity in the subject area
- Prior experience with designing and implementing a geometry workshop series/curriculum
- Have a strong classroom management style
Skills
- Degree in a STEM or education
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience with high school
- Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
- Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
- Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities
