About the Role

The Young Adult Borough Center (YABC) and Learning to Work Center at Thomas Jefferson High School is an evening educational/youth development program that provides New York City high school students an alternative pathway to graduation. This program combines academic instruction, tutoring, career exploration, case management, work readiness training, and subsidized internships. The goal is to provide students with internships that equip them with the skills necessary to pursue their individual career goals.

Responsibilities

Supports students by addressing their academic, emotional, social, and personal needs.
Advocates for students' rights and access to appropriate school services.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Applicant must be available to work between the hours of 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Fridays.
Applicant must be fingerprinted in order to work in a D.O.E. building.

Experience Level

Minimum 4 years advocate counseling experience preferably with youth between the ages of 17-21.
Experience within a high school or post-secondary setting is highly preferred.

$45,000 to $50,000
