About the Role
The Analyst, Portfolio Management will work with the Portfolio Management team to execute portfolio and asset-specific strategies, providing comprehensive support for client reporting and business development initiatives within BGO’s separately managed account business. This role involves creating and improving portfolio and asset-level modeling, evaluating the impact of leasing, capital, and cash flow management decisions, and producing client reports, presentations, and portfolio analytics. The Analyst will collaborate extensively with senior members of the Portfolio Management team and other departments including Investments, Research, Development, and Real Estate Management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of recommendations and investment memos through financial analysis, proforma modelling/underwriting, qualitative analysis, and research to support the Separately Managed Account Portfolio Management team across all asset classes and key Canadian geographies related to acquisitions/dispositions evaluation, due diligence support, major capital and leasing decisions, property level hold-sell analysis, new and existing development projects, and financing analysis.
- Assist in preparation of the portfolio and asset strategic business plans, annual operating, leasing and capital budgets, and ongoing asset level reporting/analytics.
- Manage and support return and cash flow modelling for existing clients.
- Produce presentation materials for client meetings and business development activities.
- Create, prepare, and streamline ongoing client reporting requirements, including introduction of automation and AI integration of processes where feasible.

Requirements

- One to two years of work experience in the real estate, finance, or banking industry, and/or an undergraduate degree in commerce, business administration or economics. Real estate experience is preferred.
- A strong theoretical knowledge of commercial real estate value drivers, and financial valuation techniques and methodologies.
- High level of technical and modeling skills demonstrated through strong financial analysis experience.
- Participation in the CFA program, working towards a professional accreditation, or a desire to obtain a professional accreditation, would be considered an asset.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with an ability to adapt to new and evolving challenges.
- Team-player who enjoys collaborating across multiple groups.
- Curious, with a keen desire to learn and work in the commercial real estate industry!
