About the Role

Oneida Health is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant for its GI Specialist office in Oneida. This role combines clinical and administrative duties, reporting to the Practice Manager. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong customer service skills, capable of working independently. Prior medical experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a customer service attitude for all patient interactions, both in person and over the phone.
  • Collect and record patient data with keen observation.
  • Address the needs of patients, visitors, co-workers, and the practice positively and promptly.
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients, adhering to infection prevention standards.
  • Assist providers with procedures and examinations.
  • Perform treatments and procedures as directed.
  • Reassure patients regarding wait times and delays, prioritizing acutely ill patients.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Check equipment and stock supplies as needed.
  • Place supply and pharmacy orders.
  • Facilitate and execute physician orders.
  • Coordinate and schedule referrals and surgeries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
  • 1 year of Medical Office experience (Preferred)
  • 1 year of Computer Skills experience (Preferred)
