About the Role

DWDM Optical Network Engineer to be a key part of a highly visible and business-critical technology team at Viasat, working in a cutting-edge, fast-moving environment expanding knowledge base and developing skill sets while working with complex satellite and communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and architecture of the company’s core network infrastructure to support expanding global satellite fleet.
• Layer 1 through layer 3 network design, capacity planning and platform management.
• Design of routes for fiber-based networks including point to point, ring, and path diverse routing.
• Creating written network implementation design plans (e.g. Method-of-Procedures MOPs).
• Automating networks components and network management systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 5 years relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex DWDM systems.
• Hands-on experience with test equipment (BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR, etc.) and troubleshooting system issues.
• Using knowledge of coherent technology to build long-haul networks.
