About the Role
This position supports aviation safety at Porter Airlines by focusing on the effectiveness of safety-critical processes, reporting to the Manager, System Quality Assurance.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the selection of audit projects based on corporate safety risk management objectives.
- Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety-critical functions within the operation.
- Participate in the evaluation of the safety critical processes of alliance partners relevant to Porter aircraft.
- Prepare audit plans, checklists, sampling plans, and other audit documentation.
- Develop detailed, evidence-based reports on all assigned audits.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and IATA operational safety standards for commercial air operators.
- Maintain the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systems and information.
- Serve as a Safety Ambassador and resource for all employees.
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents, and promoting safety policies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Transport Canada requirements for quality assurance and the IATA operational safety audit program.
- Experience in the IOSA certification of a commercial air operator.
- Familiarity with commercial flight operations.
- A minimum of five years of experience as an aviation internal auditor.
- Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Impartiality, integrity, tenacity, diplomacy, and self-reliance are key attributes.
- Working knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Safety Risk Management (SRM) principles.
- Recent qualification as an Aviation Internal Auditor and/or acceptable combination of education, training, and/or related work experience.
- Ability to secure and maintain restricted airport security clearance.
- Must maintain a valid passport.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
