About the Role

As Director of Data Products, you will own the platform, products, tools, processes, and self-serve layer to ensure data answers arrive before the request. You will be a force-multiplier for Multiverse's decision-making quality, velocity, and impact, driving the leverage of data and AI across the business. You will ensure data interaction and product delivery fully realize AI's potential. You will sit in the Data & Insight leadership team, reporting to the VP of Data & Insight, with a seat in company-wide planning and governance forums. You will manage 8 analytics engineers and developers within a wider team of ~20, collaborating with senior stakeholders to coordinate competing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own data leverage across Multiverse, including the platform, products, and self-serve layer used by ~800 people.
  • Provide direction on tooling, evaluating options, making decisions, and guiding the organization through change.
  • Curate the semantic layer to cover Multiverse's core business concepts, data, and metrics, with clear ownership and stewardship agreed upon with Domain D&I Leads and business stakeholders.
  • Embed governance through the platform for quality, definitions, stewardship, and access, ensuring trust and speed are not compromised.
  • Drive real adoption through documentation, training, and support, optimizing user experience alongside secure controls and seamless interconnectivity.
  • Manage cross-functional roadmap delivery, including D&I's operational planning process with approximately 50 quarterly projects.
  • Represent D&I in company-wide planning and governance forums, bringing a data lens to business decisions.
  • Ensure a roadmap reflects genuine business priorities and surfaces data needs early.
  • Track progress against milestones, identifying risks and blockers proactively, and coordinating solutions.
  • Drive the team's cycle planning, standups, and retrospectives to be useful and action-oriented.
  • Establish standards, playbooks, and best practices for work scoping, handoffs, and output documentation, embedding AI where it provides leverage.
  • Implement fair triage of inbound support and feature requests, and establish an escalation route for cross-domain issues.
  • Track and improve D&I's operational metrics, such as project velocity, support throughput, and self-serve adoption.
  • Keep operational tooling (Asana, Claude) current and visible.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for Analytics Engineers and Analytics Developers, including 1:1s, development conversations, and meaningful goals.
  • Identify and close skill gaps through formal training, peer learning, or stretch assignments.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage hiring and onboarding as the team grows.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in data, analytics, or technical operations.
  • 3+ years managing and developing technical teams such as analytics engineers or BI developers.
  • Evidenced use of AI to make a measurable difference in how an organization uses its data or how a data team operates.
  • Ability to lead others into using AI for data and operations.
  • Track record of making data genuinely self-serve in a complex or scaling organization.
  • Experience integrating governance (quality, definitions, stewardship, access control) into self-serve data practices.
  • Ownership of operational planning for a data team, including capacity, prioritization, agile ceremonies, and delivery against a busy roadmap.
  • Experience with project tooling (Asana, Jira, or similar) for data team operations.
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders across functions.
  • Ability to translate complex plans for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to build trust across the business.
  • Interest in developing people, with the judgment to coach, challenge, and support individuals.
  • Organized, detail-minded, and calm in ambiguity.
  • Pragmatic approach to making progress before the picture is complete.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
  • Adherence to Safeguarding Policy, Prevent Policy, and all other Multiverse company policies.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undertake at least a Basic check via the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS).
