About the Role

Rogers Sports & Media is seeking a Part-time Technical Director to contribute to the growth of the brand and enhance audience connection with Sportsnet. This role involves shaping the future of sports, news, e-commerce, and entertainment for a monthly reach of 30 million Canadians.

Responsibilities

  • Excel at switching live shows, including Sportsnet Central, Hockey Central, Blue Jays Central, Raptors Central, and National Bank Open.
  • Make quick, accurate decisions under time constraints while maintaining a clean broadcast.
  • Operate various production switchers, clip servers, scopes, multiviewers, remote broadcast technology, and other ancillary equipment.
  • Initiate and lead technical facilities checks.
  • Ensure cameras, audio, intercom, tally, graphics, sponsor elements, and playback sources are functioning prior to every broadcast.
  • Collaborate with Production to execute creative vision and build shows in line with brand standards.
  • Act as the Operations crew leader, using clear, constructive, and decisive communication.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of signal flows in both SDI and 2110 environments.
  • Work closely with Distribution and Master Control on all contribution feeds.
  • Work closely with Engineering to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, minimizing impact on live production.
  • Continuously examine the performance of internal network systems and act immediately upon inconsistencies.
  • Maximize available resources for content offerings and liaise with Directors, Producers, Management, and Engineering on technical maintenance and repair issues.

  • Must clear a criminal background check.
  • A credit check and driver's abstract may be required depending on the role.
