About the Role

The Quality Metrology Technician will be responsible for developing test methods and procedures to determine product dimensional features, performing validation and production inspections, and ensuring the proper use and maintenance of measurement tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and uses measurement methods and equipment to define product dimension features that conform to design features.
• Programs and operates CMM, OGP, vision systems, and form tracking systems.
• Develops measurement programs for quality inspectors and production personnel.
• Performs inspection and testing of molded components and assemblies for conformance to design and configuration requirements.
• Utilizes inspection measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, thread gauges, plug gauges, and comparators.
• Troubleshoots OGP and CMM programs and system malfunctions.
• Optimizes inspection methods to expedite inspections and manage equipment capacity.
• Trains colleagues on vision system (OGP) and Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) operation.
• Performs workmanship evaluations on plastic parts using microscopes.
• Compiles and analyzes measurement data and statistics to assess measurement methods and process capability.
• Performs Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR) studies.
• Performs tests and records data on spreadsheets.
• Identifies and reports non-conformances of product or processes.
• Provides support for Corrective Action investigations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent technical training.
• Five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing or quality environment.
• Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience programming Measure mind and running OGP 500 (Probe/vision system).
• Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience programming Calypso and running Zeiss (CMM machine).
• Ability to provide QC Calc supporting data on all measurements taken.
• Vision and/or Coordinate Measurement Machine certificate (Measure X, Measure Mind, Calypso), or relevant experience.
• ASQ certification as CQT, or CQI, preferred.
