About the Role
The Director, Information Technology Group, Wadsworth Center will provide overall vision, leadership, and strategic planning for the IT program at the Wadsworth Center. This role involves advancing IT needs through collaboration with key stakeholders, supervising IT staff, and directing IT budgets and expenditures. Occasional night/weekend work may be expected.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall vision, leadership, and strategic planning for the IT program.
- Advance IT needs by coordinating with executive leadership, IT staff, ITS, program leads, and grant project managers.
- Supervise IT staff supporting hardware, networking, software development, project management, and instrumentation integration.
- Direct and oversee IT budgets and expenditures.
- Coordinate IT investments across the Center with executive staff.
- Perform occasional night/weekend work as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Technology, Information Technology, Health Informatics or another applicable math, science, or public health major and seven years of experience in IT program direction and management in a scientific environment.
- Associate’s degree in a related field and nine years of such experience.
- Eleven years of IT program direction and management experience in a scientific environment.
- At least five years of staff supervision experience.
- A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in technology operations and software development.
- Experience evaluating and troubleshooting complex problems.
- Experience documenting technical concepts, diagrams, and instructions.
- In-depth knowledge of current technology, Windows/Linux environment, network solutions, network security, user endpoints, databases, and software development.
- Budget management experience, including managing budgets across multiple funding sources.
- Experience with IT architecture.
- Experience in information security.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Health Informatics or another applicable math, science, or public health major.
- Project Management Professional Certification.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems.
- Experience communicating health information to other states or federal agencies.
- Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts prior to hire.

- $133,422.00 Annually
- $4,000 annual downstate adjustment (pro-rated for part-time positions)
