About the Role

As a primary health care provider working in collaboration with a licensed physician, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will assess patients' physical status through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests. The APP will evaluate test findings, make medical diagnoses, and initiate therapeutic plans consistent with patient needs.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document complete health and development history from patients and/or family members.
  • Perform and document advanced physical examinations.
  • Delineate patient problems and present data.
  • Order and/or perform special screening and diagnostic tests and procedures in collaboration with a physician.
  • Analyze collected data and take appropriate action.
  • Explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients/families.
  • Participate in patient teaching regarding concerns/diagnosis, including preventative health maintenance.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing the plan of care, including treatment modalities, medications, consultations, and referrals.
  • Seek consult with supervising physician when patient progress does not meet predetermined criteria.
  • Identify and manage acute and chronic illnesses in collaboration with a physician.
  • Document data, patient assessment, and plan of care according to standards.
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills through seminars, lectures, and continuing education.
  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of medical documentation, correct billing procedures, and healthcare regulatory compliance.
  • Provide in-services to clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Assist in teaching students, residents, and interns complex techniques and procedures unique to cardiology.
  • Provide emergency treatment and initiate life-saving measures, including BLS/CPR and ACLS.
  • Provide medical care at off-site locations, including affiliated hospitals.
  • Participate in the development of U.S. Urology Partners policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program.
  • AANP or ANCC/NCCPA board certification, license or qualification for state licensure is required.
  • Must have current BLS certifications.
  • Must have NYS licensure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Thorough knowledge in computer information systems.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
