About the Role
BLG's Health Law team in Toronto is seeking a resourceful individual with a growth mindset to assist lawyers with health law matters. This role offers opportunities to cultivate skills within a national Health Law Group at Canada's premier full-service law firm, providing exceptional client service and contributing to daily file management, drafting, and preparation for legal proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Play a critical role in assisting lawyers with all aspects of health law.
- Prepare client reports and engage in direct client communications.
- Manage daily files.
- Assist with drafting pleadings, document production, and the discovery process.
- Draft other court documents.
- Prepare for hearings and trials.
- Collaborate as a team member and provide excellent client service.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 - 5 years’ experience in a law clerk role with a focus on litigation, preferably in health law and/or medical malpractice.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks Ontario Certificate.
- University degree is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative and expertise to drive highly effective file management and seek direction when appropriate.
- Highly organized with time management skills.
- Knowledge of iManage, Intapp Time, AI tools, ACL, Relativity, Kofax PDF, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A team player with a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement.
