About the Role
Marsh Analytics is a specialized unit within Marsh that advises companies on defining and implementing risk-bearing and risk-financing strategies. We support clients with analytics-based risk understanding, actuarial assessment of insurable risks, quantification of natural hazard risks, and the identification and evaluation of climate change-related opportunities and risks.
Responsibilities
- Planning and implementation of customer projects in the areas of risk financing and risk-bearing strategies using actuarial methods and tools.
- Customer consulting on complex actuarial, empirical-based, and statistical analyses using analytical approaches and tools.
- Performing actuarial calculations, natural catastrophe modeling, quantification of business interruption risks, and conducting customer presentations.
- Further development and utilization of modeling approaches for the implementation of new, market-leading, analytics-based tools for understanding and managing risks.
- Coaching team members in providing analytics-based tools and analyses, as well as in presenting results.
- Supporting and training colleagues in the application and interpretation of analytical approaches for gaining insights.
- Captive management and actuarial support of captives.
- Representing and presenting the aforementioned subject areas at customer events, conferences, etc.
- Internal expert and advocate for Data Science and/or Actuarial Science within Marsh and MMC.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Business Mathematics, Economics with a quantitative focus, Data Science, or a related field.
- Sound knowledge in statistical modeling and implementation of actuarial methods.
- Knowledge of modern programming languages such as Python.
- Ideally: experience in insurance regulatory affairs, certified actuary (e.g., DAV, SOA).
- Ability to face difficult and sometimes complex problems.
- Ability to develop customer-oriented solutions for internal and external customers and discuss them with customers to support decision-making.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Very good German and English skills; other European languages are welcome.
