About the Role
GE Vernova’s Gas Power business is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of Simple and Combined Cycle projects within the Heavy Duty Gas Power business. This role is accountable for the full project lifecycle, ensuring customer satisfaction by managing project activities, resources, timelines, and cross-functional teams. You will also be responsible for project delivery, profit and loss performance, and adherence to budgets, operating with moderate to high autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Serve as first and primary customer contact for assigned projects
- Lead customer engagement, negotiations, and issue resolution
- Manage and align multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Influence peers and stakeholders to adopt alternative perspectives or solutions
- Direct the end‑to‑end execution of mega, complex, non‑turnkey, and product / equipment‑only projects
- Develop early execution strategies in partnership with the ITO Commercial Manager
- Coordinate contract reviews to ensure full alignment on requirements, scope, and obligations
- Manage project execution with an SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) lens
- Full profit and loss responsibility, including Revenue, Contribution Margin, and Cash
- Steer ownership and accountability with mentorship to the teams on key project performance metrics
- Align teams when trade‑offs arise between cost, schedule, performance, and risk
- Develop and manage the risk register with mitigation action
- Promote and drive GEV’s Safety Toolkit on project teams, partners, and subcontractors
- Develop and maintain the Risk & Opportunity Register, including mitigation actions
- Utilize multiple internal and external inputs to support sound, risk‑based decision making
- Develop deep expertise within project execution and/or technical discipline
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and drive best practices
- Lead teams to develop creative solutions within complex manufacturing, engineering, or production environments
- Employ advanced operational, engineering, and product management techniques
- Collaborate closely with partnering functions to resolve cross‑functional issues and execution constraints
- Provide direct or indirect leadership of project teams and resources
- Support Functional Project Managers with escalations across functions, customers, and partners
- Present project, business, or technical solutions to internal and external senior leadership teams
- Influence without authority in a matrix organization to drive unified execution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 7 years of Project Management experience within Power Generation Equipment, Construction, or large capital project environments
- Flexibility to travel occasionally to customer sites and other locations to support project execution up to 30% of the time.
Skills
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of large capital project execution costs and estimates
- Certified Project Management Professional
- Field experience, Project Management, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple phased projects simultaneously and independently
- Demonstrated strong customer focus and the ability to foster strong relationships
- Experience working with and influencing senior level leaders
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving, business and financial acumen
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages
- An inclusive style and strong interpersonal and leadership skills at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment and effectively interface at all organizational levels
