About the Role
This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on new and repair steam turbine rotor assembly. The engineer will establish internal processes to ensure high-quality, compliant production for Steam Turbine Repairs & Upgrades operations, driving continuous improvement by owning project timelines, improving cycle time and cost, and resolving technical/process issues. The role involves leading and interfacing with manufacturing and support teams to achieve EHS, production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule and budget.
Responsibilities
- Define and develop standard plans for Steam Rotor repairs.
- Provide technical leadership and problem-solving to the shop floor during rotor repairs and new builds.
- Provide leadership and project management for rotor welding upgrades.
- Define and communicate machining cell integration into the repair process in a timely manner.
- Interface cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and other manufacturing cells (e.g., Machining, Balance).
- Develop and maintain build books and project folders for the project's lifecycle.
- Develop, maintain, and improve operator training programs.
- Collaborate with QPE to sign off on newly trained operators.
- Define and control production processes, including tooling and equipment.
- Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new products, tools, or equipment.
- Utilize technical discipline knowledge, analytical thinking, and experience to execute policy/strategy.
- Apply knowledge of best practices and understand how their area integrates with others.
- Use judgment and propose solutions for complex manufacturing processes with technical variety and interdependent production cycles.
- Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and potentially lead small, low-risk projects.
- Facilitate consensus-building within the team on field-related topics.
- Lead improvement efforts for equipment reliability, tooling, process controls, and safety/ergonomic solutions.
- Develop work instructions and procedures to support operator training and process control.
- Support product qualifications as needed.
- Act as an operations leader.
Requirements
- For roles outside of the USA: Advanced experience in Manufacturing & Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, with knowledge comparable to a Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma with relevant experience.
- For roles in USA: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of experience in relevant Job Family Group(s)/Function(s).
- Engineering experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Experience with customer-owned products requiring repair.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Familiarity with basic lean principles (takt/cycle and 5S).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable).

- Geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
