About the Role
Volunteers of America–Greater New York is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year. We are seeking qualified candidates passionate about making a difference and joining a mission-driven team.
Responsibilities
- Answers telephone calls and takes messages for staff.
- Receives and assists visitors.
- Receives and routes deliveries.
- Aids residents.
- Controls front door access.
- Greets all visitors; assists them directly or announces their arrival to staff or residents.
- Ensures that all clients sign in and out as required.
- Routes mail and deliveries as required.
- Handles or assists in crisis intervention.
- Follows assigned procedures in emergency situations.
- Conducts rounds at residence as assigned.
Requirements
- Must possess a polite and pleasant manner.
- Must be efficient and firm.
- Must have the ability to operate a busy front desk/security operation.
- Must be able to perform diverse tasks with ease.
- Must maintain confidentiality.

- Saturday and Sunday/ Morning shift
Education Level
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
