About the Role

The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for a Counter Terrorism Analyst for its Counter Terrorism Unit. This unit investigates domestic and international threats to New York citizens, focusing on disrupting individuals who recruit, inspire, or finance terrorist activities. The Analyst will collaborate with law enforcement agencies, assist with data collection, organization, and analysis, and perform administrative and investigative functions, including creating and presenting briefings.

Responsibilities

Read and review international and domestic terrorism materials posted online.
Assist in organizing evidence, participate in witness interviews, and draft legal process and orders for grand jury presentations and trial.
Prepare transcripts from recordings.
Compile and analyze data into reports, spreadsheets, charts, and documents for presentations.
Create and maintain in-house databases, filing, and records management systems.
Perform administrative and executive support tasks, including preparing agendas and collecting materials for meetings, speeches, and conferences.
Perform a full range of investigative duties.
Undertake special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and one (1) year of relevant experience OR master’s degree.
High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities related to duties described.
Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
Authorization to work in the United States is required.
Commitment to two (2) years with the hiring Unit is desired.

Skills

Excellent organization, communication, writing and creative problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented.
Proficient in presentation software such as PowerPoint, Photoshop, Avid, Premiere, and other presentation software.
General fluency with computer applications and electronic devices.
Readiness to quickly learn about and adapt to rapid changes in technology and computer systems.
Ability to effectively communicate investigative results and give briefings and presentations.
Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, various institutions, regulators, and law enforcement agencies.
Knowledge of the ideology, leadership, goal and tactics, and propaganda of major terrorist groups.
Knowledge of cryptocurrency.
Knowledge of ARCGIS or other mapping software.
Knowledge of ghost guns, 3D printing, drones.
