About the Role
Nova Scotia Health is seeking a full-time Hematopathologist with FRCPC certification or equivalent, based in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This role will provide medical oversight for laboratory hematology/transfusion services for the Eastern Zone of Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will be a member of the Central Zone Division of Hematopathology and have opportunities for academic collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Medical oversight of hematopathology/transfusion medicine services for Eastern Zone of Nova Scotia, in collaboration with Operations Managers.
- Collaboration and coordination with the Central Zone Division of Hematopathology.
- Interpretation of Peripheral Blood Smears.
- Participation in the Provincial Hematology and Transfusion Medicine Committees.
- Operating within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Participation in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
- Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
- FRCPC or equivalent in Hematopathology OR FRCP in General Pathology with additional training (or willingness to train) in Hematopathology.
