About the Role

Provides clerical and secretarial support to assure smooth daily department operations and prepares the patient and examination area.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and brings patients from the waiting room to the clinical area, obtaining vital signs as required.
  • Registers patients, updates information, and bills physician charges to patient accounts, verifying demographic and insurance information.
  • Performs clerical and secretarial work associated with patient care, including copying and dictation.
  • Prepares, files, and organizes patient charts.
  • Schedules patient appointments for in-office visits, testing, or other physicians.
  • Ensures the examination area is clean and stocked.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled visits to maintain timely patient flow.
  • Conducts in-office testing as directed by the physician and coordinates testing and outside ancillary services.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed by the physician.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies, filling out appropriate logs.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Maintains and models Nuvance Health Values.
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • One year MA experience OR MA or EMT certification OR 3 FULL years of relevant healthcare experience such as vitals, rooming bloodwork, patient care.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Data entry required.
  • One year medical assistant/secretary experience, or graduate of accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
  • Skill in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
