About the Role
The Relationship Banker is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and building strong, lasting relationships with customers. This role focuses on creating a positive, efficient, and personalized experience in every interaction while ensuring customer needs are met with accuracy and care. The Relationship Banker serves as a trusted point of contact, helping customers navigate their day-to-day banking needs and fostering long-term loyalty to the organization. Through these relationships, the role supports branch goals and participates in community engagement efforts that strengthen customer connections and local presence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming, professional, and personalized experience in every interaction.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by actively listening, understanding needs, and following up when appropriate.
- Accurately process a variety of routine banking transactions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly, using sound judgment and a solutions-focused approach.
- Educate customers on basic banking services, account features, and digital tools to enhance their overall experience.
- Maintain a high level of operational accuracy and attention to detail in all transactions and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal controls, and security procedures.
- Collaborate with branch team members to support daily operations and deliver a consistent customer experience.
- Support branch performance by recognizing opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and contributing to team goals.
- Participate in community engagement activities and represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.
- Take a sales-oriented approach to customer service.
- Effectively and efficiently provide a complete range of customer services at the financial institution, including opening new accounts, interviewing personal loan applicants, and explaining available financial institution products and services.
- Effectively understand and cross sell our products and services.
- Display a consistent effort to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of all branch policies and procedures, particularly those that affect teller line functions such as approval of checks, overrides and power of attorney.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in a financial institution or retail services setting.
- Customer service experience is expected.
- The employee communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the bank.
- The employee works effectively and relates well with others including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Bank.
- The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and strives to maintain constructive working relationships.
- The employee can be depended upon to report to work at the scheduled time and strives to keep absences minimal.
- The employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments.
Skills
- Basic understanding and knowledge of bank loan products and services
- A desire to develop and utilize cross-selling, management, and organizational skills.
- Sales experience is beneficial.
