About the Role
Provide HR support for Canada Life Reinsurance and Great West Life Global Investments. This role offers consultative support to senior leaders, aiding in the development and execution of HR strategies aligned with divisional goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide HR advice and coaching to assigned client groups and business leaders on HR policy, workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, compensation, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.
- Offer counsel and support to individual employees on work-related issues.
- Manage the escalation of employee issues and collaborate with the Employee Relations & Standards Centre of Excellence for resolution.
- Identify and address people-related issues and themes within client groups, recommending risk mitigation strategies and capitalizing on opportunities.
- Support cyclical HR processes such as talent management and compensation reviews for client groups.
- Participate in project teams and deliver small-scale HR projects.
- Engage in cross-line business HR committees to share best practices and collaborate on initiatives.
- Contribute to talent plans, including organizational health diagnostics, recruitment, retention, development strategies, and organizational effectiveness.
- Enhance managerial capabilities by coaching senior leaders on people and talent matters.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset, required for Quebec.
Requirements
- 6-8+ years of experience as an HR professional.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder management.
- Ability to network across functional teams and build client relationships.
- Capacity to identify trends and anomalies in data and conduct root cause investigations.
- Strong problem-solving and influencing skills, with the ability to understand broad HR issues and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
- Ability to multitask with strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Excellent data analysis skills with analytical thinking and clear presentation abilities.
- Strong work ethic, respect for confidentiality, sound professional judgment, and initiative.
- High accountability and responsibility to meet aggressive deadlines.
- Previous experience supporting technology teams, or experience in the financial or insurance industry is preferred.
