About the Role

Reporting into the Liability Manager, you will underwrite new and renewal Facultative and Corporate UK / Global / International, Public / Products Liability business. This role involves daily broker and client contact, as well as internal liaison with other Munich Re units. It is a hybrid role based in London, requiring 2-3 days per week collaboration in the office.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite within a delegated authority UK / International Public / Products Liability business
• Client meetings including travel whenever necessary
• Contribute to the technical development and knowledge within the Liability Team
• Identify and develop opportunities for new business and new products
• Cultivate relationships with London brokers for business development purposes and exploit new business potential through these sources
• Build good working relationships to enhance the position of F & C within the group and to help develop the account
• Ensure compliance with Insurance Distribution Directive
• Ensuring compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules

Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge of Liability underwriting
• Good knowledge of the legal background to the classes in the UK and an awareness of other main jurisdictions
• Experience with policy wordings
• Good London market experience underwriting or broking the classes of business
• Knowledge of insurance underwriting including jurisdictions outside the UK
• In depth knowledge of an Industry / Technology such as Pharmaceutical, Media and Telecom business
• You are seen as an expert in your field and will be the ‘go to’ person for your area of specialism within Munich Re
• You will be seen as a role model/mentor to others – identifying opportunities to share your knowledge with others
• You will demonstrate and role model inclusive behaviour and encourage your colleagues to play an active role in creating an inclusive culture
• You will treat your colleagues and sales and business partners fairly and with respect
