About the Role

This role is key to securing export classification and jurisdiction activities across the EMEA region within the Legal/Compliance function, Export Control scope. You will ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance of classifications for commodities, software, technology, and services, while supporting regional and global programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary EMEA subject matter expert and escalation point for jurisdiction and export classification matters.
  • Lead and support EMEA and global J&C initiatives resulting from regulatory changes, business transformation efforts, acquisitions, and strategic compliance projects.
  • Drive the integration of export classification requirements into the early stages of the product development and R&D lifecycle.
  • Support Export Control CoE initiatives, including classification governance, de minimis assessments, Foreign Direct Product Rule analyses, and technology control and transfer programs.
  • Lead regional classification projects through standardized project management practices, including process documentation, automation, change management, communication, and data governance.
  • Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Digital, Product Management, Sales, Compliance, Learning, and other stakeholders to deliver classification and compliance objectives.
  • Communicate the impact of EMEA export control regulatory developments and classification requirements to global Export Control CoEs and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, data integrity, process efficiency, and scalable classification solutions.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in export control jurisdiction and classification, preferably within a multinational environment.
  • Expert knowledge of EU export control regulations, including EU Dual-Use Regulation and related classification methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of UK export controls and familiarity with other EMEA country-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience classifying hardware, software, encryption items, and technology.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving organizational change.
  • Able to travel as business needs require.

Skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and multiple functional areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and database management.
  • Experience with SAP GTS and related trade compliance technologies is preferred.
  • Experience supporting automation, digital transformation, AI-enabled solutions, or process optimization initiatives is highly desirable.
