About the Role

This role involves working on electrical power generation, distribution, and utilization system projects, focusing on the design of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with small clients and assist senior colleagues with larger clients.
• Participate in a community of practice to build expertise.
• Design engineering solutions and validation processes according to organizational and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the analysis and drafting of engineering standards and specifications.
• Follow health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Identify and mitigate environmental risks and workplace safety risks.
• Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action.
• Suggest improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures.
• Deliver a plan for a small element of a change management program.
• Develop personal capabilities through training and development activities.
• Gain or maintain external professional accreditation.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices.
• Deliver small- or medium-scale projects within an established program management plan.
• Gather information and resources to draft proposals in response to bid solicitations.
• Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve technology quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain it
• 5-10 years of experience in the design of electrical power generation, distribution and utilization systems including high voltage main and secondary substations, power distribution equipment, protective relaying and metering, electrical power generating equipment and systems, UPS and power conditioning systems, lightning and surge protection systems, motors and motor controls, indoor/outdoor lighting systems, electrical heat tracing, wiring methods and/or grounding systems
• Experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.
• Experience working on water and wastewater projects is beneficial but not required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit (beneficial but not required)
• Solid understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and other electrical industry codes, standards and recommended practices is preferred
• Familiarity with ETAP, SKM or other computer-assisted power study programs, and an interest or experience in performing short-circuit & protective relaying analysis and power studies is a plus
• Experience working with AGi32 lighting design software
• A basic understanding of instrumentation and control systems
