About the Role

Kraken Technologies is expanding its AI capabilities and seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Agent Safety team. This role focuses on building the foundational infrastructure that enables teams to safely and effectively use machine learning and generative AI agents for internal systems and workflows, contributing to the company's mission of improving lives through technology.

Responsibilities

Design and implement services that improve the reliability, security, and determinism of LLMs and autonomous agents.
Build scalable evaluation harnesses and frameworks for internal workflows and AI skills.
Define test cases, interrogate output quality, and improve system reproducibility.
Develop pre- and post-generation controls and translate governance requirements into software.
Engineer authentication and permission patterns for internal agents.
Improve monitoring and tracing for AI systems.
Contribute to operational playbooks for AI-specific anomalies.
Design tests and participate in verification and red-teaming exercises.
Deploy, run, and support high-throughput, low-latency safety services in AWS.
Make architecture, reliability, and cost trade-offs.
Contribute to technical decisions, review designs and code, and mentor other engineers.
Establish reusable patterns across AI Foundations.

Requirements

Proven experience owning complex components or services end to end.
Strong judgement around system design, concurrency, security, testing, and architecture trade-offs.
Production Python experience is preferred.
A critical understanding of LLM behaviour.
Experience building or using evaluation harnesses to measure output quality and reliability.
Experience with threat modelling, authentication and authorisation, red teaming, data-access controls, or guardrails for internal platforms.
Comfortable running services in AWS, owning reliability and scalability.
Ability to explain technical trade-offs and challenge constructively.
Ability to turn complex safety and evaluation findings into practical action.
Must have the right to work in the country of application; visa sponsorship is not offered.
