About the Role

We are seeking a Category Specialist with CIPS qualification or procurement experience, and knowledge of goods, services, and works within the Place category. The role involves advising on procurement strategies, processes, and contract awards to meet strategic priorities, enabling category management, and reporting to a Category Lead. You will translate strategy into delivery by advising on and running appropriate procurement activities and informing contracts for effective management. Responsibilities include drafting procurement documents, running procurement processes in accordance with legislation and council procedures, and utilizing eProcurement systems.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on procurement strategies, procurement processes, and contract awards.
  • Enable category management within the Council.
  • Report to a Category Lead.
  • Translate strategy into delivery by advising on and running appropriate procurement activities.
  • Inform contracts that can be readily managed.
  • Draft and provide advice on the preparation of procurement documents (tenders, specifications, etc.).
  • Run a procurement process in accordance with relevant legislation and the Council’s own processes and procedures.
  • Utilize eProcurement systems.

Requirements

  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualified, or have experience of procurement.
  • Knowledge and experience of goods, services, and works which sit under the Place category.
  • Familiarity with using eProcurement systems.
