About the Role

Join Cynergy Bank as a Security Operations Engineering Manager to protect customers, colleagues, and technology. This role is crucial for strengthening security operations and contributing to the resilience of a cloud-first banking platform against evolving cyber threats.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the response to cyber security incidents, supporting effective containment, recovery, and communication.
  • Conduct proactive threat hunting and investigate suspicious activity across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Monitor and analyse security events using SIEM, XDR, and cloud-native security technologies.
  • Support the ongoing development of detection capabilities, alerting, and incident response playbooks.
  • Review technical solutions, architecture, and technology changes to ensure security is considered by design.
  • Assess cloud security controls and support alignment with industry good practice and regulatory expectations.
  • Support vulnerability management, penetration testing, and remediation activities.
  • Work alongside developers and engineers to embed security throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and help ensure lessons learned drive continual improvement.
  • Produce reporting and insights into cyber threats, incidents, and control effectiveness.
  • Support cyber resilience, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity planning.
  • Deliver cyber exercises and incident simulations that strengthen organisational preparedness.

Requirements

  • Experience in Cyber Security, Security Operations, Incident Response, or Threat Detection within a regulated or complex technology environment.
  • Experience responding to cyber security incidents and investigating security events.
  • Cloud security experience across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with SIEM, XDR, and security monitoring technologies.
  • Experience with threat hunting, investigations, or digital forensics.
  • Knowledge of networking, operating systems, identity management, and modern security controls.
  • Experience reviewing technical solutions, architecture, or technology changes from a security perspective.
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and DevSecOps principles.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and interpreting penetration testing outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to take a pragmatic, risk-based approach to cyber security decision-making.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective when managing competing priorities or responding to high-severity incidents.
