About the Role

The Consultant will support the BER Government Partnership team in developing and strengthening strategic relationships with government donor counterparts in Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein. This role involves advocating for WFP's work and mobilizing resources for WFP programs by negotiating contributions and providing strategic guidance.

Responsibilities

• Support mobilizing multilateral, directed multilateral, and bilateral resources from Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein.
• Maintain strong relations with donor counterparts and keep them informed of strategic and operational issues.
• Ensure adequate follow-up on the impact of German contributions, particularly for corporate emergencies.
• Review and amend project proposals efficiently, adhering to donor conditions and operational priorities.
• Provide guidance to Country Offices, Regional Offices, and Headquarters on donor budgetary rules, preferences, and grant management.
• Draft briefings, prepare meetings, and produce reports and correspondence.
• Organize bilateral WFP-donor meetings between German government representatives and WFP experts or field colleagues.
• Represent WFP at meetings to advance government partnerships strategy and build support for WFP activities.
• Assist in the preparation of the mid-year Annual Performance Plan review for the Government Partnerships Unit in Berlin.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Advanced University degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Social Studies, or a similar subject, OR First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
• Experience and a proven track record in donor relations and partnerships management.
• Knowledge of the German funding architecture.
• Very good verbal and written German and English communication skills required.
