About the Role
Receiving Associates are responsible for unloading merchandise, checking its quality and quantity, and entering information into the store's system. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to learn procedures, and potentially operating powered lift equipment. Associates may also be involved in picking orders and assisting customers.
Responsibilities
- Unload merchandise from carriers and check quantity and quality.
- Perform Rough Goods Receipt (RGR)/Detail Goods Receipt (DGR) and enter incoming merchandise information into the store system.
- Operate powered lift equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, reach truck, order puller, forklift) for unloading and moving freight.
- Pick orders using the Order Fulfillment Application when assigned.
- Use store systems and tools to identify product, article, vendor information, and location.
- Understand carrier unload processes for efficient freight management.
- Follow receiving standards strictly.
- Clean and maintain the receiving area.
- Receive all types of inbound freight, including BOSS and special orders.
- Identify and read vendor packing slips, carrier shipping documents, UPC labels, and compare them to purchase orders.
- Schedule deliveries and pre-post information into the receiving system.
- Count carton freight and RGR merchandise.
- Identify damaged merchandise and take appropriate action.
- Stock merchandise onto shelves to achieve 100% in-stock.
- Use appropriate safety procedures when organizing merchandise.
- Merchandise new items as directed.
- Build end caps and promotions.
- Break down and dispose of trash by the end of the shift.
- Maintain safe and organized overheads.
- Communicate with Freight Team members to ensure proper product stocking.
- Communicate in-stock levels with the Fulfillment Team.
- Demonstrate GET behaviors consistently.
- Approach and greet customers.
- Ask open-ended questions to understand customer needs and project details.
- Maintain schedule.
- Unload merchandise.
Requirements
- High level of work commitment.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and follow procedures.
- Ability to identify and read reports, tickets, and UPC labels.
- Ability to climb a ladder up to 12-16 feet.
- Ability to lift and move heavy and bulky items without assistance.
- Ability to respond to public address system announcements.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Previous forklift experience is considered an asset.
