About the Role
The Parts Advisor sells parts to retail or wholesale customers over the counter, through the shop, or by phone. The ideal candidate will have basic automobile knowledge and a willingness to train dependable, punctual, hard-working individuals with great customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts
- Pull purchased parts from stock
- Determine availability and submit emergency orders if part is not in stock and premium is paid
- Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information
- Assist outside sales representatives with their orders
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up
- Verify “will call” and “back order” files weekly and return to vendors, or stock items not required within the required time limit
- Solicit assigned accounts by phone
- Ensure all special-order parts are prepaid
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in progress
- Ensure all parts handed out to technicians are charged to repair orders
- Order parts not in stock after discussion with Shop Foreman
- Notify the Service Advisor and customer that ordered parts have been received
- Answer the parts phone promptly and courteously
- Ensure the Technician presents a duplicate copy of the repair order before parts are charged out
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
- One year of experience in the automotive parts department
- One year of sales experience
- Ability to work well with the public, sometimes serving several customers at a time
- Valid New York State Driver License
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists
- Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
