About the Role

Lead. Inspire. Deliver. We're looking for an ambitious Duty Manager to join our branch leadership team. You'll play a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day operation of the branch across our retail, warehouse and fleet functions, developing people, delivering exceptional customer service and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of the branch across retail, warehouse and fleet operations.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure smooth, efficient operations and excellent customer service.
  • Drive operational excellence by maintaining company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Manage stock accuracy, inventory control and stock take activities.
  • Ensure pick-to-manifest targets and customer service SLAs are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee returns, warranties and reverse logistics processes.
  • Support Click & Collect and delivery operations.
  • Ensure fleet compliance, vehicle readiness and operational efficiency.
  • Coach, motivate and develop colleagues across all operational areas.
  • Deliver engaging daily team briefings.
  • Conduct performance conversations and support individual development plans.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding and succession planning.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and customer-focused culture.
  • Build a flexible, multi-skilled team capable of delivering exceptional results.
  • Champion a customer-first culture throughout the branch.
  • Support colleagues to deliver outstanding service every day.
  • Resolve customer queries professionally and efficiently.
  • Work closely with sales and operational teams to maximise customer opportunities.
  • Maintain high standards of branch presentation and operational excellence.
  • Support delivery of branch sales, profit and margin targets.
  • Monitor operational costs, payroll and productivity.
  • Maintain robust cash handling and stock control procedures.
  • Use KPIs and operational data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support branch growth through operational excellence and commercial awareness.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across the branch.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
  • Support operational, financial and stock audits.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and operational controls.
  • Ensure all colleagues complete mandatory training and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Experienced people leader with a passion for operational excellence and customer service.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within retail, warehouse, logistics or distribution.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience managing KPIs and operational performance.
  • A customer-focused mindset with a drive to deliver outstanding service.
  • Good knowledge of stock control and operational processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence business performance.
  • Confidence working with operational systems and reporting tools.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Experience with fleet operations, inventory management or P&L responsibility would be advantageous but isn't essential.
