About the Role
This role is pivotal in contributing to the company values by optimizing current processes with AI and technology and driving future transformation. The Tax Manager will be responsible for all aspects of taxation within the business, including Corporation tax, VAT, transfer pricing, customs & duties, and PSA.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Financial Controller, working closely with financial reporting, Corporate tax, and external tax consultants to deliver all aspects of tax reporting and submissions.
- Stay updated with the latest tax legislations to ensure the business is prepared for any tax changes.
- Review and mitigate tax risks, ensuring internal controls and policies meet the evolving tax legislation landscape.
- Manage HMRC queries with the support of the Financial Controller, maintaining an open and transparent relationship with the tax authority.
- Prepare and review quarterly UK Group VAT submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Periodically review VAT accounts for accuracy in day-to-day transaction postings and provide coaching to AP and AR staff.
- Explore AI opportunities to devise automatic checks, flag transactions requiring further review, and reduce manual intervention.
- Review and reconcile VAT accounts, ensuring proper documentation and recordkeeping for audit trail.
- Provide expert guidance on VAT matters, ensuring tax implications on commercial contracts are considered and correctly accounted for.
- Work closely with external consultants to deliver corporation tax computation and submission, ensuring timely provision of tax analyses.
- Update and review tax provisions for statutory accounts, including tax reconciliation and deferred tax substantiation.
- Manage all internal tax reporting and collaborate with the Corporate Tax team to meet group tax requirements like Pillar 2 and country-by-country reporting.
- Manage the annual cycle, seeking opportunities to drive an efficient and effective process.
- Periodically review duty payments prepared by the Logistics team and shipping agent.
- Prepare and review employee expenses for the PAYE settlement agreement, ensuring correct accounting for applicable expenses.
- Prepare and review local transfer pricing documentation, ensuring accurate documentation of applicable transactions and consistency with group documentation.
- Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Continue to develop skills to support evolving business needs.
Requirements
- Professionally qualified (CTA, ATT).
- Strong experience in tax compliance and tax reporting, ideally in the UK or a similarly complex market.
- Knowledge of acquisition and liquidation is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong communicator.
- Highly organised.
- Advanced Excel skills.
