About the Role

The DBFX team is a recognized leader in financial markets, combining sales, trading, and research to structure and market financial products. This role focuses on building and managing metals risk in Japan as an integral part of the Global Foreign Exchange business in Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

  • Build business onshore Japan across precious and base metals, focusing on physical, relative basis trading, OTC trading, and managing positions for global books.
  • Develop a strong client pipeline across physical, derivatives, and electronic channels to gain wallet and market share.
  • Ensure the e-spot offering aligns with market conditions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of hedging dynamics, balance sheet usage, and risk management techniques to achieve high return on leverage and above-average Sharpe ratio.
  • Partner with sales and structuring teams to market products and trading ideas to optimize volumes and revenues across inventory books.
  • Provide competitive pricing for clients in collaboration with traders in other locations.
  • Develop strong two-way communication with regulators, trade associations, and market infrastructure providers.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows, and solve business problems, applying critical judgment for responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
  • Minimum 15 years of prior work experience in Metals Trading onshore Japan and offshore markets.
  • Experience managing the market risk of relative basis, forward, and physical books.
  • Experience in e-book running with strong technical experience in onshore Japan markets.
  • Thorough knowledge of onshore regulations, exchange rules, and taxation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the global precious metals spot and forward markets.
  • Commercial focus, ability to take initiative, and skills to solve complex business problems.
  • Ability to articulate ideas confidently and concisely.
