About the Role

Woven by Toyota is dedicated to transforming Toyota into a mobility company for the next 100 years. Inspired by a history of invention for others, our mission is to expand the definition of mobility, enhance its societal contribution, and challenge the status quo with human-centered innovation. We operate across four pillars: AD/ADAS, Arene (a vehicle software production platform for SDVs), Woven City (a mobility testbed), and Cloud & AI (digital infrastructure). We are united in our pursuit of a "zero-accident society" and "mass production of happiness."

Responsibilities

  • Design, train, and optimize deep learning models for object detection, multi-object tracking, classification, and behavior recognition for industrial environments.
  • Build and operate real-time computer vision inference pipelines and analytics systems for logistics hubs, distribution centers, and factory operations.
  • Lead dataset strategy, annotation standards, model evaluation, and experimental design to continuously improve CV/ML model performance and reliability.
  • Define and drive the technical roadmap, architecture, and integration strategy of CV/ML systems within the broader platform ecosystem.
  • Establish engineering best practices and mentor engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, and adoption of state-of-the-art CV/ML technologies.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with 7+ years of practical experience in CV/ML engineering, or a PhD in a related field with 5+ years of applied practical experience.
  • Possess hands-on experience in model design, training, and hyperparameter tuning, with proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Have led the development of scalable Perception pipelines, including state-of-the-art object detection and multi-object tracking systems, with a thorough understanding of model trade-offs, data quality, evaluation methodologies, and real-world deployment constraints.
  • Demonstrate a track record of delivering and operating complex CV/ML systems end-to-end in production environments.
  • Show evidence of leading technical projects, driving architectural decisions, and influencing engineering direction.
  • Have a solid understanding of classical computer vision geometry (camera intrinsic/extrinsic parameters, calibration, fundamentals of 3D reconstruction).
  • Possess excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).

About the Company

  • Woven by Toyota is contributing to Toyota's transformation into a mobility company for the first time in 100 years.
  • Our mission, inspired by a history of inventing for others, is to expand the definition of mobility, extend how mobility contributes to society, and challenge the norms of mobility with human-centered innovation.
  • We operate across four pillars: AD/ADAS, Arene (a vehicle software production platform for SDVs), Woven City (a mobility testbed), and Cloud & AI (digital infrastructure).
  • Essential business functions support these teams' implementation, and together we strive to realize a "zero-accident society" and "mass production of happiness."
  • Toyota is redefining the meaning of mobility, moving people, goods, information, and energy, and continuously challenging the norms of mobility.
  • Woven City serves as a testbed for creating and testing various mobilities, aiming for the mass production of happiness with the concepts of a human-centered city, a demonstration experiment city, and an unfinished city.
  • Woven City brings together diverse individuals who share a passion for future mobility. Inventors, residents, and visitors test various products and services while living in a city-shaped testbed where people, mobility, and social infrastructure are interconnected.
  • Our Digital Twin Platform team, as part of the Social Infrastructure/Common Platform core team under Woven City, is responsible for realizing Woven City's vision: "Expand mobility. Enhance humanity. Engage society."
  • By developing a robust software platform, we enable inventors and business owners to "test" their products in a virtual environment before deploying them in the actual Woven City. Simultaneously, we provide an analytics foundation that supports decision-making based on both operational data collected from the real city (resident daily life, traffic dynamics, energy consumption) and simulation results.
  • The Digital Twin Platform is still in its early stages of growth, offering a valuable opportunity to be involved in the co-evolution of the platform and commercial strategy, influencing not only "what to build" but also "how to deliver to market" and "what business models to explore."

Equal Opportunity

  • We provide equal employment opportunities and respect diversity.
  • Personal information received will be used solely for recruitment and onboarding purposes. Please refer to our Personal Information Policy for details.
