About the Role

The Legal Coordinator provides essential document and data management support for the Legal Department, assisting with various administrative tasks and special projects to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Recordkeeping, including maintaining contracts, litigation files, corporate documents, and other assigned documents.
  • Facilitating document collection, production, and retention.
  • Reviewing and editing formatting and grammar in legal documents.
  • Assisting in the creation of reports for the department.
  • Creating and maintaining databases and intranet sites for the department.
  • Performing special projects as needed.
  • Identifying trends and collaborating with other departments to update policies and procedures.
  • Handling intake tasks for new matters and business requests.
  • Assisting with scheduling meetings.
  • Administering contract execution, including approvals, signatures, data entry, and reporting.
  • Maintaining contract files and databases, ensuring data integrity.
  • Tracking and monitoring contract status throughout the lifecycle.
  • Preparing standard and ad hoc reports and summaries related to contracts.
  • Providing project updates, meeting summaries, and progress reports.
  • Responding to general inquiries regarding the contract review process and status.
  • Providing word processing support for contracts, letters, and agreements.
  • Performing administrative functions such as document retrieval, mailing preparation, copying, printing, filing, and data entry.
  • Reviewing and researching contracts to identify relevant terms for the contract management system.
  • Understanding legal documents and issues.
  • Operating with strict confidentiality and demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Taking initiative, anticipating needs, and utilizing problem-solving skills.
  • Analyzing and estimating work efforts to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Performing corporate housekeeping and maintaining governance and regulatory documentation.
  • Uploading documents to electronic board books.
  • Assisting with board meeting logistics, including scheduling and securing spaces.
  • Supporting paralegals and attorneys in gathering and compiling information for requests.
  • Creating and administering reporting related to corporate governance and bank regulatory functions.
  • Maintaining Corporate Governance and Bank Regulatory team intranet sites.
  • Overseeing the intake process for new cases in the matter management system.
  • Reading and understanding legal complaints, identifying accounts at issue, and entering relevant data.
  • Obtaining necessary documentation to assist in case review.
  • Working with outside counsel to obtain necessary case information.
  • Completing various reporting tasks, including matter closing and buyback reports.
  • Supporting paralegals in obtaining information for outside counsel requests.
  • Sorting and processing mail relevant to litigation.
  • Coordinating and leading team meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience in the legal field or related area of study, or completion of a Bread Financial apprentice program.
  • One or more years of experience with record keeping and data administration for a Legal Department or Law Firm.
  • Work authorization in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must not be an F-1 (student) visa holder.
