About the Role
Support the development and implementation of nature conservation and restoration projects through geospatial activities using satellite imagery, remote sensing data, and GIS. Gain practical experience in climate action, nature-based solutions, and projects across sub-Saharan Africa.
Responsibilities
- Support the analysis of landscapes and spatial trends using GIS and remote sensing data
- Conduct historical land cover and land use (LCLU) analyses to support project feasibility and baseline studies
- Collaborate with the Operations Team to ensure the acquisition, quality control, and validation of geospatial field data for subsequent analysis
- Create maps, diagrams, and visualisations for project documentation and presentations
- Conduct digital monitoring, reporting, and verification of ongoing projects
- Develop automated and reproducible workflows for LCLU analysis where possible
Requirements
- Currently studying GIS, remote sensing, geography, environmental sciences, landscape management, forestry, or a related field
- Good understanding of remote sensing and GIS
- Experience with GIS software, satellite imagery and global geospatial datasets
- Experience creating maps and visualisations
- Curious, analytical, and eager to learn
- Enjoy working independently but also comfortable collaborating with an international team
- Willing to work from our Berlin office
- Fluency in English is required
- Interest in nature conservation, climate change, and nature-based solutions is highly desirable
